Knicks 128, Spurs 115

Posted: January 4, 2011 in Knicks

Very nice win for the Knickerbockers tonight, as they handed the San Antonio Spurs (29-5) just their fifth loss of the season in a 128-115 track meet at the Garden.
The game was close most of the way, but the Knicks led virtually from start to finish, eventually pulling away from the Spurs in the fourth quarter. Wilson Chandler led a balanced scoring effort for the Knicks with a game-high 31 points to go along with nine rebounds. Amar’e Stoudemire added 28 points and nine boards, and Raymond Felton had 28 points and seven assists. The Knicks were playing their first game without Danilo Gallinari, who will be out two to three weeks with a knee injury. Shawne Williams and Bill Walker received a bit more playing time tonight, but still no Anthony Randolph or Timofey Mozgov sightings. These guys seem to be permanent members of the D’Antoni doghouse, which is a shame because the Knicks can use some more size and rebounding up front. Still, the Knicks are now 20-14 and have shown they can hang with the big boys in the league. They embark on West Coast trip, starting Friday night in Phoenix. The Knicks also play the Lakers and Jazz on the upcoming trip, so it will certainly be a challenge. Knicks now 10-7 at home, 10-7 on the road. Pretty weird. Let’s hope they can steal a few on the road.
