Knicks 113, Raptors 110 (Six in a row, baby!)

Posted: December 9, 2010 in Knicks

It certainly wasn’t easy tonight for the Knicks, who battled back and forth all night with the Toronto Raptors during an entertaining game at the Garden.
Raymond Felton’s three-pointer (which bounced around rim several times before going in) with 3 seconds left gave the Knicks a 113-110 win tonight. Felton finished with 28 points and 11 assists, and Amar’e Stoudemire had his sixth straight 30-point effort (all in Knicks wins), scoring 18 of his team-high 34 points in the fourth quarter. Talk about clutch, he seemed to have an answer every time the Raptors got close or tied the game. Danilo Gallinari added 20 points and nine boards, including a big three in the final minutes, and rookie Landry Fields had another solid outing (9 points, 10 rebounds).
The Knicks have won six straight and 11 out of 12, improving their record to 14-9. The Knicks have games at Washington and home with Denver coming up, and it would be nice to win them both because after that, the schedule for the rest of the month is downright brutal.
After those two games with the Wizards and Nuggets, the schedule looks a little something like this:
Home with Celtics, Heat, Thunder, Bulls
Road with Cavs, Heat, Magic

During that seven-game stretch, the LeBron-less Cavs are the only bad team. Realistically, I’d be happy with 4-3 or 3-4 in those games. Still, I’m fired up because the Knicks seem to be a legitimate playoff contender this season, amazing since they struggled to a 3-8 start. They are doing things much better, namely closing out games. In those first 11 games, the Knicks had late leads in most of them but failed down the stretch. Now, they’re thriving in the fourth quarter, and Amar’e is just going off late. Great to see some excitement back at the Garden!
