Game over, and it’s only in the third

Posted: August 6, 2009 in Mets

As I write this, Livan Hernandez is getting torched by a pathetic San Diego Padres lineup. An Alex Cora error has allowed a third run to score in an ugly third inning, which already featured a two-run bomb from Adrian Gonzalez. Paired with Livan’s typical crappy first inning, the Mets are down 5-0 to the Padres with one out and the bases loaded. Ballgame. I’d say the Mets should let Livan go soon and let some young pitchers get a shot, but the Mets have nobody to call up. So we’re stuck with retreads like Livan, Tim Redding, Elmer Dessens and Nelson Figueroa on the staff for awhile. It’s tough being a Mets fan, that’s for sure.
